Martin Levy of Hurricane Electric to Discuss IPv6 Transition at FOSE 2010
() -IPv6-native and colocation provider Hurricane Electric today announced that its Director of IPv6 Strategy, Martin Levy, will speak on an IPv6 panel at FOSE 2010, the most comprehensive expo and conference for government information technology professionals.
On Wednesday, March 24th, Martin Levy will be featured on an afternoon panel entitled “A Strategic Approach to the USG IPv6 Roadmap.” Martin will join other distinguished IPv6 experts including John Curran, President and CEO, American Registry of Internet Numbers, and the mostly government audience to share information on how agencies should strategically plan and implement IPv6 migration.
“I look forward sharing my knowledge of IPv6 rollouts and their effect on government agencies,” said Martin Levy, Director of IPv6 Strategy, Hurricane Electric. “Complete IPv6 compliance yields a number of advantages, including increased address space, improved network-layer security, and simplified network configuration. I commend FOSE for bringing increased attention to this serious issue.”
Hurricane Electric first deployed IPv6 on its global backbone in 2001 and the company now interconnects over 600 associated IPv6 backbones – nearly twice as many as its nearest rivals. Hurricane Electric is one of the few global Internet backbones that is IPv6 native and does not rely on internal tunnels for its IPv6 connectivity. IPv6 at Hurricane Electric is a core service and every customer is provided IPv6 connectivity as well as classic IPv4 connectivity.
In addition to offering enterprises free IPv6 certification, last July Hurricane Electric released an IPv4 depletion Application for the iPhone and Google Android platform plus additional tools to educate CIOs and network administrators about the urgency of this transition.
Last November, Hurricane Electric announced that its IPv6 network had doubled in less than a year.
